Kyra Minturn
Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American actor, producer and director. She is best known for her role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in the TNT crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick won an Emmy Award in 2010 and an Emmy Award in 2010 and a Golden Globe Award for 2007 for her portrayal of Johnson. The series ended after its seventh season. Sedgwick is also famous for her role in the show in the role of Madeline Wuntch on the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Sedgwick was nominated for the Golden Globe for her role in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's other roles in films include Oliver Stone's Born of the Fourth of July (1989) and Cameron Crowe's The Ones (1992) The Heart and Souls (1993), Phenomenon (1996) as well as What's cooking (2000) as well as Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2013). Sedgwick was born in New York City, the daughter of Patricia (nee Rosenwald), who was a speech instructor and educational/family therapy therapist, and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, a venture capitalist. Her mother was Jewish and her father was an Episcopalian and of English heritage. Sedgwick has declared publicly her Jewish roots and stated that she participates in Passover seders.
