Jennifer Rene Psaki (American political advisor) was the 34th White House secretary. She was secretary from 2021 to 2022. She is a part of the Democratic Party and previously served as the White House deputy Press Secretary (2009) and the White House deputy Communications Director (2009-2011) as well as the spokesperson for the US Department of State (2013-15) and as the White House communications direct (2015-17). Psaki was a contributor to CNN's political coverage of 2017 to 2020. Psaki started her career in 2001 as a political contributor for CNN. She was involved in the campaign for re-election of Tom Harkin (Iowa Democrats) for the U.S. Senate, and Tom Vilsack (Iowa Governor). Psaki was then appointed press secretary in John Kerry's presidential election campaign. Psaki was communications director of Joseph Crowley, a U.S. Representative, as well as the regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 2005 to 2006. Psaki returned in 2012 for political communication, serving as press secretary for President Obama's 2012 reelection campaign. 20 years ago, Psaki was appointed spokesperson for the United States Department of State in February 2013. Her appointment in the Department of State fueled speculation that she could replace White House Press Secretary Jay Carney as he left for the White House. However on May 30th in 2014, it was announced that Josh Earnest would replace Carney. The White House welcomed her back to the White House in 2015 as the communications director, and she remained there until the closing of the Obama presidency.
